Your official Netvibes RTM Module seems to be broken
garth.olson says:
I have been using this widget on Netvibes for a couple of weeks with no problems. Yesterday I started getting a black gadget with the following error message: "This public url doesn't exist".
This has been consistent across 3 computers (WIn7, WinXP, Linux) under both Chrome and Firefox.
I tried re-installing the official module from the RTM site, and got the same message (and a similar screen) when I clicked on the Add Netvibes button.
When I click edit on my current broken RTM module in Netvibes, the URL shown (which Netvibes now says doesn't exist) is:
http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/modules/netvibes/rtm.rtm

Same problem here, tested with Firefox on WinXP and Ubuntu.

Thanks for your reports -- we're checking into this. We haven't changed anything on our end recently, so not too sure what might be causing this. :( I'll let you know as soon as we have an update.

Same problem here... :(

Yeah, same for me too..

Problem is on Mac Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and on Windows XP Firefox and Chrome as well--for me, at least.
The problem exists even if I create a new netvibes account and try to add the RTM widget.
The third-party Netvibes modules that are findable through Netvibes itself do work. They appear to be the same in terms of layout, but I am wary of using a third-party URL (in this case, 2: http://nvmodules.typhon.net/jerome/rememberthemilk/index.html and http://decker.christian.googlepages.com/rtm.xml)
This is a bummer.

Same here, if you goto the URL directly in most browsers you just get a loading.....

Same problem with mine as well. Been using the module for months. Also, for what it's worth, I cannot delete the module. If I delete from my Netvibes page (either by deleting or archiving it), once i refresh the page, the module returns. Related?

I have a more complex version of the same problem. When I first discovered the issue, I went to "add content" in NetVibes and found two alternative widgets. One only showed the top few items on my list with no way to scroll down. The other had a scroll bar -- which is less useful for a reminder than being able to see all my active items at once, but at least I can get to them -- so I installed that one. It also has no way to open my RtM account directly by clicking on the header, but that's relatively minor.
I've been finding, however, that every time I boot my computer up the "url doesn't exist" widget is back in addition to the new one. I do a "delete forever" and it's still back the next time.
In addition to my primary RtM list on the main NetVibes tab, I have 3 more lists of household chores and maintenance on a second tab, and the same thing happens with all of them. Today, I even found that all three had set themselves to show my primary list and I had to go into Settings and reassign them.

Even if I open this URL in my browser I'm getting error page:

I'm experiencing the same problem. The error contained in the IFRAME is:
"This public url doesn't exist"
But nothing has changed within my module. I even tried adding a new RTM module, but ran in to the same problem.
Thanks for looking in to this!

Problem persists.
Tried to copy my original message above to Netvibes (with some explanatory text) using their "contact us" link.
The page just kind of flashed when I hit send, and then stayed the same with no confirmation message.
No way to tell if my message was actually sent, and no way to follow up that I could find.

I'm starting to wonder if someone hacked NetVibes, since now I'm getting a problem with my Twitter widget, too. It shows a message saying, "Twitter has updated his authentication policy. Please click on the Connect button below to configure your Twitter account."
I would be very wary of something like that in an email -- but it never occurred to me it could happen in NetVibes, so I clicked without thinking. Now I'm worried I may have compromised my password. And if the same thing is what's affecting RtM, goodness knows what might happen here.

Eagerly awaiting a fix. :)

Just a a follow up based on some of the posts above:
@ graylon - I also tried these third party alternates and found them useless. Upon refresh. one sets all RTM instances to the same Task Group, and the other reverts to a sign in form with the "remember me" check box already set, but - it does not remember the setting.
A couple of weeks ago I set up an RTM tab in NetVibes, with separate official RTM Netvibe Modules, for each of 4 different RTM Task Groups. Everything worked beautifully for a couple of weeks.
I think this is a Netvibes problem, but have no idea at this point, on the best way to get Netvibes to pay some attention to it.

I've re-adding the widget (leaving my old one in place) and while still have the same error message on the old one, the 'new' widget is working, it's not quite the same graphically, it looks like and may well be the igoogle one.
emily (Remember The Milk) says:
We've been checking into this further, and it looks changes on the Netvibes end mean that our widget doesn't work with their system anymore. :(
We're looking into this to see if it's possible to modify our widget to be compatible with their new system (fingers crossed!). I'll let you know how we go...

Thanks for your efforts! Hope you'll find a fix soon, this is really annoying :-(
cory.panshin says:
I sure hope you come up with a fix. The 3rd party substitute is a mess -- I clicked "complete" on one task and two others vanished. Repeating tasks don't come back on the next occurrence after they've been completed. Everything is still fine when I go directly to RtM -- but the widget isn't refreshing properly. Nothing you can do about that, of course, but it really makes me want the official one back.
max.wilbert says:
Thanks for trying guys, I really hope this works as the netvibes module is by far the most user-friendly way to use RTM! I'm missing it a lot...
kester.fernando says:
I get the a similar problem today 0900 UK time when I try and use Netvibes modules or Igoogle modules. Basically that I cannot see my tasks in Igoogle or netvibes gagdets (both versions of the gadgets on both netvibes and igoogle.). Usinf Ffox latest v.
kester.fernando says:
all works fine in Chrome though (if that helps)
kirklarsen says:
PLEASE get this fixed! This is the way that I most frequently use RTM and I'm dying without it!
max.wilbert says:
Doesn't work for me in Chrome or Firefox...
kester.fernando says:
@ siknus
to clarify, using RTM igoogle or Netvibes widgets in Chrome works. Firefox continues to show no tasks in either Netvibes nor iGoogle widgets.

I concur! Set up a Netvibes RTM page with Widgets for 4 different task lists. Everything works great.
Tested my page on Firefox and Chrome (Win 7 and Win XP) as well as Firefox and Chromium (Linux). Worked fine all all.
There were some formatting differences but no problems (Firefox gets my vote for the best appearance).
