Start Date?

I'm totally new to RTM, so my apologies for not being able to figure out something so elementary. But how do I set a start date for a task? That is, I want to add a task, but not have it appear in my list until, for instance, a month, 3 months, a year (like birthday shopping). I see a "Due Date" field, but not a "Start Date" field. I don't want my list cluttered up with stuff I don't need to think about for 6 months. Thanks!

That said, with the power of Smart Lists and some savvy users, there are a number of good methods for setting this up, e.g. this thread about sleeper tags.
