location on iPhone 40.1 miles off

I really can't figure this one out: on the RTM website my locations are where they are supposed to be on the map, but on the iPhone app they are about 40 miles off. For instance, when I'm at home, "nearby" tasks (I needed to expand the radius to 50 miles) my tasks located at home appear to be 40.1 miles away. There is no problem with my iPhone (4) location service (it find my correct location in all other apps).

If you haven't done so already, would it be possible to submit an iPhone & iPod touch app issue report via our support system?
Please select the issue that you're experiencing from the list on the left, and follow the steps shown. If your issue isn't listed, just click on "I'd like to report a new issue" on the left.
Your report should provide all the info that we need to investigate further, but we'll be in touch via email if we require any more details.
Thanks!

I have submitted a report there. Here's what I have discovered since then:
this problem can also cause a partial freeze of the app where all the buttons in the locations menu highlight but don't do anything else. If you kill the app then you get a full-blown crash at start-up afterward. Uninstall and reinstall the app, enter you login and pw, and locations are then fine. Until next time (and I still don't know what triggers the next time, just happen to me again this morning while locations were correct after reinstallation last night).
