Is it possible to have a task that becomes irrelevant?

ben.doherty says:
Often tasks go on a list, but they become irrelevant before they get done. Is there a way to sort-of-delete them so that they go to a special place?
Marking tasks as complete isn't really right as they aren't complete.

There are a few reasons for this:
It is important to show that the task was on the list at some point in the past
And, tasks could become active again at some point and need to be moved back.

I suppose that they could be moved to an 'irrelevant' list, but that'd mess with your active task list etc.

any thoughts?

Personally, I mark them complete, and move on.

If it was important to me to avoid polluting my completed tasks, I would tag them with something like "muffle" and then add a term to my various smartlists to suppress tasks tagged with muffle from appearing.

I have one list in which I keep all of my tasks, and then use smartlists for everything else.
