Unable to add tasks via google apps calendar

For what it's worth, you should be able to use the sidebar gadget to add tasks.

Thanks Andrewski, the sidebar gadget is useful but I have frustration with that too - I can find no way to restore the gadget after closure short of using the form on this website. Probably not a rtm issue but shouldn't there be some sort of menu to toggle it back on with?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to add any kind of menu aside from the gadget itself to Google Calendar. (It would be removed along with the gadget.)
However, you should be able to collapse the gadget (without removing it entirely) via the "-" button next to the "x" button. (You would then expand it via the "+" button.)
