Problem with IE 8

I am using IE 8 and can't edit tasks or change between the tabs with the different lists. The error that is displayed in the "javascript error console" is:

I have tried clearing the cache in hope that the script would redownload but the error remains. Any other tips on how to resolve this would be preciated :-)
