RTM for Symbian S60 phones

juwlz says:
RTM has apps for Blackberry and iPhone already. However, although these devices are popular in the US, there is a HUGE user base of Symbian S60 smartphones worldwide - much larger than iPhone+Blackberry.
Google (and related 3rd parties) is really good at producing S60 apps so that I have good phone-friendly access to Google Mail, Calendar, Maps, etc. on my device. However, my only interface to RTM is via the website ... which I don't like using even on a PC, so I simply don't use it. (I find the gMail gadget far friendlier on the PC.)
I'd really love an RTM for Symbian app (for S60 3rd and 5th edition phones), and I don't suppose I'm the only potential user.
Is there any chance of such an app in 2009?

This would definitely make me spring for a Pro account, if I haven't managed to resist the urge before it arrives ..
I use the Mobile version of RTM a lot .. but a local copy on my N95 would be brilliant! :)

Hi,
We are doing a RTM sync application for S60 in a scholastic "senior design" class. We're wrapping up (with about one week to go) before the class is over and then we will have ownership of the source (since we didn't use any of the school's equipment/resources to develop).
Right now our key is just for development purposes - so we can't sell/give-away yet, and I don't want to risk anything that has our key pulled right before we get our class credit! Need this for graduation :).
But we have contacted RTM asking if they are interested, or would be willing to allow us to deploy (no response yet) - some of the features include
1. Offline Access (syncs to native PIM DB)
2. Background Polling for changes (user editable)
3. Disable sync when battery falls below 15%
4. Syncs task name, due date, priority, and groups (are working on more)
5. Syncs your locations as GPS bookmarks to the phone.
6. Syncs changes both ways
7. Filters completed tasks from the phone (S60 has issues with storage and completed tasks)
8. Custom UI for viewing overdue, high priority, and date ranges (today, next week, next month, etc...).
8. Support for 3.1,3.2,5.0 platforms
9. Tested on E75, E63, E71 and 5800. We plan to also certify the N97.
Right now it is a J2ME application so we have limited UI, though we thought about switching this to WRT technology (S60 supported - really cool UI stuff), but we would have to keep the sync engine in some other language so that the key is protected.
The jar file is also not java verified since we're students and don't really have the income to sign. So even if we could deploy right now, it wouldn't happen today.

End of april :). Like I mentioned we have about 4 guys, spend a good amount of time on this so I'd hate to see it just get buried. We're just waiting for RTM to get back to us and discuss the future of this app.

Did you already get a feedback from RTM?
If not I'm asking myself why RTM is not interested in such a good idea?
Moreover I'm rethinking if it was the right decision to go pro at RTM because I cannot understand why there is still no application for Symbian when looking at the big thread here at RTM.

Thanks for your feedback on this.
I don't know why RTM is not interested in getting a Symbian application for the product.
Moreover I don't understand why there is no official statement on this topic by RTM except the short answer of krissy dated 26th Feb 2009.

You should contact Nokia direcly. Talk with NTI (Nokia Technology Institute) and I'm sure they will be glad in assist you to develop a RTM symbian client.
You both (RTM and Nokia) should incorporate RTM in the OVI service. It would be the first GTD application inbuilt with a cellphone factory.

There is no reason to just limit yourself to the US/iPhone crowd, the need for staying organized unites people of all creeds, colors and phone brands.
I realize developing for Symbian has been a royal pain in the past, but now that Nokia has adapted Qt it is possible to develop a great app in finite time (alternatively you and/or Nokia could outsource the work to someone, for instance Cutehacks).
