Ability to 'archive' a task
sthurn says:
Sometimes I consciously decide not to do a task. I would like to archive it rather than delete it. Later, when I wonder what happened to the task; it would remind me that I decided not to do it. My thinking is that I would record in a note why it was ignored / archived.
felixc says:
I've done something like this myself with a tag basically called not_done and then added a note with the reason and then completed the task. You can always search for the tag and "completed" items.
Admittedly, it is a bit of a work-around.

I do basically the same thing as felixc does. I use a tag called "discarded". I then add a note with an explanation of why the task is discarded (sometimes as simple as "D: not worth the effort" or "D: duplicate") and then mark it complete.
I have a Smart List called Discarded that has this logic:
"tag:discarded AND status:completed"
I can then use that Smart List if I ever need to go back to discarded tasks.
