Last week I installed and enabled Gears for RTM here at work. I updated various tasks over the weekend at home using the browser interface. When I launched Gears-RTM back at work this morning, I noticed that all of my tasks were where I left them on Friday, despite the fact that I was in online mode.
I clicked the icon to go offline, then went back online, and my tasks were updated. But my question is: should I have have to do that every time to get Gears-RTM to sync? Is there some simpler way to sync? Thanks.

You shouldn't have to do that for Gears to update, but it's been causing some problems for the past few months.

So what will happen for offline use? I heard that Gears is going away.

Re: my original question, I've noticed that a simple ctrl-r to refresh the window seems to do the trick.

It also works to click the current tab (e.g., 'Inbox'), and doesn't require a full page reload.
