Repeating tasks due on 30th or 31st during Feb.

alicea says:
Hello everyone.

I have a task that repeats on the 30th which when I completed in Jan has jumped to Mar 30. No Feb reminder. Anyone else have similar experience and/or non-manual fix? Thanks, Michael

Yes this happened to me too! This is *very* bad... Nearly forgot to get a new subway ticket ;)

Yeah, i experienced the same, when set to monthly repeat it will skip to the next month that has the given date of month.

So if you have set it to jan 31, it will skip feb, apr, jun, sep, nov.

I have not found a workaround and would really like to be able to say something like 'repeat every month ultimo'.

Btw. see this post: http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/help/1639/ it was discussed in 2007, and there is a rather ugly workaround for this issue.

It looks like it was considered for implementation but was never done.

I would think programatically it should be easy enough. (if day=31 and month in 30daymonths then day=30 else ... etc.). Just my 2cents and probably over simplifying without knowing the backend code.

I know that I have a couple of repeating tasks that I want to be able to set as repeating on the last day of every month, whether that's 30th, 31st or 28th (or indeed 29th every four years!) But there doesn't seem to be a way to do it, sadly. I just have to keep manually setting the time for the next one each month, or make them individual tasks.

If you make 12 annual tasks that repeat the last day of each month, that takes care of the issue handily. Except for leap years.

Not ideal, but a good workaround until RTM addresses this.

That's 12 tasks per 1 actual task. I would just say just set end-of-month tasks for no later than the 28th. That way the worst that could happen is that you have to postpone some tasks a few days. Sort of like an early reminder. You could even incorporate the actual due date in the task name if really important such as "Pay Rent (due on 30th)".

Just to jump on the bandwagon here, I missed my car payment last month because it that was due the 30th. It seems a tasks that repeats every month shouldn't skip a month due to it not having that date. I'm changing it to be due the 28th so this doesn't happen again, but I'm disappointed I had to find out the hard way.
