Google's trustworthiness googles me.

Hi everybody, I'm a newby on RTM, obviously. Didn't know where to post this, so this is where it landed, hope it's all right.
Problem is, I was asked to install "Googles Gears", both ToDo (Gnome) and RTM did, to be able to work off line. As I stated, I mistrust them (Google), I'm insecure about their agenda, for sure they have a hidden agenda, I believe that what's in the news is only the tip of the famous iceberg.
So what to do, what does "gears" leave on my disks, does anybody know? Thereby I blocked everything that has anything, directly, to do with Google, so what should be unblocked. Unfortunately Google is already that far crept in into the online part of the world that blocking them all the way leaves you with at least a lot of problem's, that I hesitate to do what's to be done in this case.
Maybe somebody knows any alternative, or maybe you can state some convincing words to help me, to one side or the other.
Thanks.
Regards,
Todoe
For anybody who wanted to ask: no I also use MS as little as possible.
The internet should be a free world.

Todoe,
You only need to install Gears if you want your RTM data to be available to you when you are in offline mode. If you don't plan to use that mode, you do not need to install Gears to have RTM functionality.
