Floating Events

tompeisch says:
Is there a way to enter an event as a floating event? It appears that by default, all events are considered as fixed... unless I'm missing something here.

An example of a floating event would be, say, if I was expected to pick up a quart of milk on the way home once every three days, with the next occurance three days from the time that the task is completed. Meaning, if I pick up the quart a day early, my next reminder is three days from then, not a multiple of three from when the task was entered.

I think the repeat "after 3 days" will do the trick. (As opposed to "every three days")

sosnowsk,
Indeed, that's exactly right. This is covered in our Help pages (with some examples), for what it's worth.

Ah! I had not scrolled down that far. I think I could use a field to enter a value... right now there are just five "after" options. Three days is not one of them, for example. And a common one for me is every six months.
So, I assume that selecting, say, "after 2 weeks" the event will become due two weeks from when it is completed, as opposed to when it was entered? That is the capablility that I'm looking for.

tompeisch,
Yes, that's right, exactly as you describe. :)

I think the suggestions in the dropdown are just that - suggestions. The most popular repeat intervals, to save you a bit of typing time. You could even select the "after 1 day" and then change the 1 to a 3, to save you typing it out.

The "after" repeat will indeed generate a new event at the specified interval after you mark the current one complete.
