Feature request - customisable/eventual tag removal

Over at http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/android/8799/ davidbwagner notes that tags with no active tasks still appear on the tag list, and there is some discussion as to how this should be handled, and the reasons for handling it that way.
I propose that the behaviour be customisable. In particular, that the following options be available:
- Tags are never cleared after being synced to the phone (current behaviour)
- Tags that have neither complete nor incomplete tasks on the phone are cleared and don't appear in the tag list
- Tags that have no active tasks are cleared and don't appear on the tag list.
In particular, that middle behaviour would be very useful; it would mean that tags hang around for two weeks (or however long you sync completed tasks for) before disappearing. Thus tags that you use frequently but currently have no tasks open under them don't disappear, while tags that are no longer in use go away.
As someone who uses a lot of tags that are used for a week or so then never again (I use GTD, and have a tag per project), not having now-useless tags cluttering the list would be really useful. Having to go through the list, long-press and delete each one is far more work than I'd like.
