How do I delete a single instance of a recurring task?

Previously, when I deleted a recurring task, I was prompted whether or not I wanted to delete the recurrence or continue repeating. Now, the task is just deleted, and I am not prompted, so I assume it is also deleting the repeat. I checked in settings, but I didn't see any preferences for this sort of thing, nor did my search in help find anything useful. What happened? How do I get this prompt back?

Part of this may depend on the repeat type: if you have the repeat type set to "after…", it won't ask you, but it will for a "every…" repeat.
