Can't set default list...
headgamer says:
I keep trying to set one of my lists as the default list, so that when my secretary emails me a task to complete it goes into the "Tasks FPS" list, not the Inbox. I set it as the default list, but every time I close RTM and open it back up, it's no longer the default list. How to I get a list selected as default to STAY THAT WAY?

This could likely be a browser/cache problem.
Gears may cause loss of data or problems like you're seeing. Can you check to see if you have it installed? The easiest way to do so is to look on the header of the website for either Offline (no Gears) or a green arrow (Gears). You can also look under the Tools menu to see if Gears Settings is listed there or on Google's site for more instructions specific to your OS/browser.
If that doesn't help, which browser are you using?
Let me know what you find!

I am/was having the same problem. I was trying to set a saved search as default, and I got the confirmation message telling me it had been done, and the icon next to the list changed to the checkmark, but when I left the list settings and returned the setting had been lost, and when I restarted the browser the Inbox was the default rather than my "Todo" saved search.
I was using Chrome with Gears enabled, and the green icon indicated I was currently online. I thought I would do a little more debugging, and disabled Gears, and found myself locked out, with this error:
"Google Gears is either not installed, or the correct permissions have not been given to www.rememberthemilk.com"
Re-allowing Gears didn't help, I stayed locked out. At least when visiting via the application tab I had allowed Chrome to create. So I closed that, cleared out all my browser data (cache, etc.), accessed RTM via Chrome proper (rather than the application tab), was prompted to use Gears and create a new application tab (which I did) and was able to use RTM again. And my default had been saved, although it was WAY too much trouble. :-)

Hi Jim,
It sounds like your only problem was, once you had disabled Gears, you visited the offline URL: http://www.rememberthemilk.com/offline, which is only available while offline. (If you visit the main site while offline, RTM will redirect you to that page.)
Also, you can only set a physical list as your default list, not a Smart List (saved search).
Hope this helps!
