Can't recreate Gears shortcuts

I'm trying to add the Gears shortcuts for RTM. I tried a suggested solution in a May 2008 thread of logging out of RTM, removing RTM from the Gears list of allowed sites and then logging back into RTM. I ended up with Gears asking permission for RTM but no shortcut pop up box.

I suspect that this belongs in a Gears help forum, but I thought I'd check here first to see if anyone knew a RTM-specific solution.

Unless the Gears shortcut provides any other specific functionality?
