Postpone repeating tasks
petej26 says:
There is an old closed thread in the forums referring to this, and that there is uncertainty in the result. I'm wondering if this has been fixed since.
The concern is that postponing a repeating task changes the future dates. For a "Repeat Every" task, I assume that if one of the tasks gets postponed, there will be no change in any future tasks. So if I have a task that repeats every month on the 1st, postponing the August 1st task to August 8th will not affect the tasks in the future, and that all will still occur on the 1st of the month.
But what about "Repeat After" tasks? Does the postponement change the "after" time? If I have a task that is "repeat after 1 month", and I postpone that 1 week, will the next task be 1 month after the postpone date, or the original date?
And for both of these types, are they consistent?
Thanks,
Pete

Repeat "after" tasks are generated upon completion, so it's not a matter of whether you postpone (or change the due date) but how far from the original due date you complete the task.
I'm not sure if this is what you're asking (do you have the original forum thread's link handy?) but I hope this helps! Let me know what else you have questions about!

Here's the thread that dealt with this in the past.

Here's a simpler version of the question, I hope.
I have a "repeat after 1 month" set for the 1st of the month, and I postpone it 1 week to the 8th, and then complete it. Will the next task be on the 8th or the 1st of the next month.
I've tried this for short timeframes, and the answer appears to be after the postponed date (which is what I think your answer says), but the thread mentioned above implies that RTM is not consistent with this answer.

In your example, the next task would be on the 8th (as per the completion date).
The thread to which you linked was in a case where an "every ..." repeat format was used, which may explain the difference.
Hope this helps!
