ICAL HELP

I have just started to use the site and I like it a lot. My question is, now that I have subscribed to sync my to do list with my ICAL, I can no longer input my work schedule or anything else directly into my calander. I get the message:
Read-only calander You cannot change events or To Do items on calendars you've subscribed to.
Is there a way around this? Or, what is the best way to work within the new structure if I cannot work around it?
Thanks

At this stage, iCalendar is read-only (although synchronization is planned).
To make changes to your existing calendar, you'll need to switch back to it by clicking on the calendar name in the calendars pane in iCal.
