Expressing my disappointment with Remember the Milk
(closed account) says:
I was disappointed a number of months ago that it didn't seem like RTM was doing anything to improve the user interface. I decided RTM wasn't for me even though I had already purchased a "pro" account.
I took a number of months off and recently decided to take a look again...sure enough nothing had changed (in regards to UI).
I only wanted a couple minor but important changes:
* Shortcut to access "More Actions..." like the "." in Gmail
* http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/ideas/191/
* http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/ideas/2639/
* Ability to sort tasks by creation date
* http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/ideas/1891/
* http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/ideas/2854/
* http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/ideas/2612/
* http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/ideas/2553/
* http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/ideas/1292/
I listed a few of the topics I found, but I remember these ideas being scattered around.
This is quite a disappointment to me. Suggestions like the above don't add to the complexity of the app, but they make it much more difficult (for my system anyway) for me to use RTM.
I'd be happy to pay a larger annual fee for this service if there was steady improvement to the actual user interface.
I haven't lost hope...but it is fading...

Hey there Brandon,
1. I looked around and couldn't find a shortcut to "More Actions," but I did find a list of the keyboard shortcuts and found that almost all of the options under More Options have their own keyboard short cut.
http://www.rememberthemilk.com/help/answers/basics/keyboard.rtm
Could you just the one shortcut instead of a shortcut to get to More Actions and then using your mouse?
2. I thought you could sort by creation date.
http://www.rememberthemilk.com/help/answers/search/advanced.rtm
Use the search terms added, addedBefore, addedAfter, addedWithin. Make a few Smart Lists and wouldn't you have what you're looking for?

@apgordon: thanks for the reply
1. What I really need is a shortcut to move the task to a different list. I'm fine with a shortcut to go to the more actions menu. I'm already used to this due to my usage of Gmail.
2. I tried many different smart lists and none ever sorted by creation date. I just don't think it's currently possible
Thanks!

What up we.kanes
1. Hmm. Shortcut to move a task to a different list. Are you using static lists or Smart Lists mostly? What kind of set up are you using - how are you organized?
2. Try something like this:
addedAfter: 8/19/2008 AND addedBefore: 8/26/2008
What kind of smart list search criteria have you tried before?
Let me know!

I second your request about the sorting of dates. That's a key component if you use a FIFO approach to getting things done.
apgordon says:
Right, definitely, but has anyone else successfully done this as I have? See the example search criteria above. I think it's already possible to sort by date (date added, date due, and even date completed) so little need to request! Right?
apgordon:
You can sort a list (either regular or smart) three different ways:
1 By priority
2 By due date
3 By task name
There is no way to sort a smart list by date added.
The search you describe above shows tasks added in the time frame you defined, but they are not sorted by date added.

Ah, didn't realize the request was for SORTING by date added.

"SORTING by date added" is a must...

I'm losing hope, too :(
RTM's web interface seems very stagnant. I understand that they're working on other projects (iPhone app?) but they really need to keep the RTM web interface up to date to compete with the WAY more usable competition out there.
