problems keeping smart lists in sync

flowerncsu says:
My husband and I have been using remember the milk for a while now to keep track of our to do lists. We primarily use tags and smart lists for this. (We share all lists and tag tasks based on who they're assigned to.) Our problem is that changes don't always stick. For instance: Yesterday, my day got cut short, so I postponed a lot of tasks. After I'd gone to bed, my husband was looking at my to do list and found a lot of tasks left. This morning, he asked me about it. Only when I reloaded the app by clicking on the cow icon did the tasks show up as due yesterday again. These are tasks that did show up yesterday, which I successfully postponed, and now are again showing as due yesterday.

It's typical that we have to reload the app in order to see the other person's changes. Is there a problem with shared lists, keeping them from being truly dynamic?

Also, is there a way to change the default so that if I create a task in a smart list, the task will be created in a shared list instead of my inbox?

flowerncsu, thanks for reporting this issue. Shared lists should automatically be in sync with any changes that have been made to the tasks.

Can I ask if this is the first time that the problem has occurred, and if you noticed it happening after this?

Also, are you and your husband using the same computer? If there are multiple computers, would it be possible to check that they have the same timezone set? Also, it might be worth double checking that both RTM accounts have the same timezone. (I'm just checking as unusual things have been known to happen when postponing across different timezones :)

Sorry for all the questions -- hopefully we can figure out what's happening here. Thanks!

To answer your question, if the Smart List doesn't contain the list in its criteria, then the other thing that you could do would be to set the shared list as your default list (on the Settings/Lists screen). This would ensure any tasks added in a Smart List would be added to that list rather than the Inbox. Hope this helps!
