Lag in response time updating tasks (100% CPU usage)

There is a bit of a lag when updating tasks -- even if I have a smart list with a few items, if I mark a task complete it then 'thinks' for a 3-4 seconds and then it updates. This delay (and accompanying 100% CPU usage / freez-age) happens for virtually any task I perform on RTM.
I love RTM, its such a great app, its just frustrating to have it react so slowly to updates etc. It also is a similar issue to one I had a few monthsago (do a search for "CPU" and you will find my post... it also contains info on what OS I am running etc) -- you resolved it then and over time the issue has crept back (and now affects all RTM functions (for me anyways).
I keep my 'puter clean (of spyware and other CPU hogging apps etc) and for other Web 2.0 / AJaXy apps, things run fine... just RTM seems to be lagging for me a bit.
Is it because my tag cloud is too big ( I do not have it displayed, but I do see it is embedded in the html code)? Is it because I have too many tasks overall? Is it becasue some of the Smart Tabs I have set up use too many AND/OR/NOT terms to filter my results and my browser has to re-calc stuff its not using at that point in time?
I'm open to changing the way I use RTM / other work-arounds if it means an increase in speed / responsiveness.

I know that you mentioned that the problem is happening with most actions on RTM, but would it be possible to contact us and let us know some of the specific actions? If you have any additional information (e.g. which list you're in when this happens, if it happens on Smart Lists, or if it happens on all lists) then we can look further into this. Thanks!
