Repeat After x Months Needs An Update

bfjones says:
Excited about all the new features, thank you! I believe the function for "repeats after x months" isn't working as it should.

On the topic of tasks that repeat on a quarterly basis, I have a report that I start to work on Oct 1, 2017 8am with a due date of Oct 14, 2017 5pm and set to repeat every 3 months.

However, when I click the check mark to roll over to the next quarter, I don't get the right dates. Instead, I get this:

1 Oct 2017 at 08:00 >> 29 Dec 2017 at 08:00
14 Oct 2017 at 17:00 >> 11 Jan 2018 at 17:00
repeats: after 3 months

It should be:

1 Oct 2017 at 08:00 >> 1 Jan 2018 at 08:00
14 Oct 2017 at 17:00 >> 14 Jan 2018 at 17:00
repeats: after 3 months

Slight clarification: "with a due date of Oct 14, 2017 5pm and set to repeat every 3 months" should read "with a due date of Oct 14, 2017 5pm and set to repeat after 3 months"

The setting is "repeats: after 3 months"

Hi bfjones,

Thanks for getting in touch. The slight hitch you've discussed here is related to the repeat - 'repeat after 3 months'.

This will set the task to repeat three months after you complete it. If you complete it today, October 12th, you'll see the due date of January 12th and the start date calculated based on two weeks earlier.

To stick dates to a schedule like you're after, change the repeat style to 'repeat every three months'. That will ensure the dates adhere to that schedule, not based on the completion date.

Let me know if I can help further!

I see what you mean, thanks for the insight, Tristo. In my attempt to account for those 2 dates, I was imagining that it was using some amount of days to advance 3 months instead of moving the month forward by 3.
