Getting smartlist to show a count of completed tasks

I have a smartlist showing all tasks and can filter it to show things completed today or last week, but I'd like it to show the count the same as all other smartlists. How do I achieve this?

The left navigation bar only shows incomplete tasks, but the details pane on the right would show the number of completed tasks if your Smart List's search looks for completed tasks.

This is also a good candidate for using the API. It will pull all tasks, regardless of complete or incomplete status.
