Gmail app - show start by date?

I have my RTM tasks sorted by start by dates FIRST then deadlines. This helps me keep myself organized and on track. Is there a way to show the start by dates in the gmail app? It automatically sorts them by due dates. Why is it that start by dates isn't an option? Can it be?
