Virgin Mobile uk sms?

blacknosugar says:
It doesn't seem to work.

After reading an earlier post about this, I tried emailing myself from my phone to see a reply to address. I sucessfully replied to this address (a long string of letters and numbers @mmsreply.virginmobilemessaging.co.uk) and recieved the reply as an SMS. (And then also got a message from Virgin saying I had a picture message waiting online.)

So, I pasted the address into the Reminder settings, but nothing comes through.

Incidentally Google Calendar says that it supports most UK operators, but doesn't list Virgin UK.
I tried it anyway tonight, and it worked instantly.

Anybody had any luck with Virgin?
Could there be a possible work around through Google Calendar?

Thanks for any help!

Thanks for letting us know.

Would it be possible to try emailing phonenumber@vxtras.com? This is the email format that we have for Virgin's email-to-SMS service in the UK, but I'm unsure if they're still providing this service. Virgin's customer service may be able to tell you if they are currently offering an email-to-SMS service. Thanks!

Hi Emily,

The vxtras.com address does not work for me.
I tried variations with the 0 at the start of the number, without, with international access code...

Virgin say:

"We really appreciate you taking the time to get back to us about this matter, especially as you've taken the time to include some useful information.

We understand that this is a service that's available on other networks and is one that will benefit many of our valued customers.

Although we don't currently offer this service, we've passed a description of this matter across to the team who deal with matters such as this and they'll be able to investigate if we can introduce this service in the near future.

With this in mind, we'd like to thank you for taking the time to write - we really do appreciate when our customers provide us with feedback.

Thanks again for taking the time to write and we really hope this is a service we can offer you in the future. "

Which I think means 'Get lost...'

Hmm, unfortunately sounds like they must have discontinued this then (Virgin used to offer the service in Australia too, but stopped it a while back). Thanks for checking into this with Virgin -- we'll have to remove this from our reminder options.
