Not sure if this is what you mean, but it usually adjusts the height automatically depending on the number of tasks to display. Unfortunately with the recent addition of their Google Talk gadget, Google seems to have broken the dynamic height functionality in other gadgets -- we've reported this to them and I think they've fixed it now.
