New contact appears in wrong character set

A bug?

All my settings are set to English/UK etc.

Neil, thanks for letting us know. The 'add contact' feature allows you to add another RTM contact by their username or email address -- did you mean to add the person with this username, or were you looking to invite a new user to RTM?
