Is it really unfortunate that the app uses JavaScript? Makes it sound like some sort of defective or second-rate technology is being used. How about:
"Our application currently requires JavaScript to function properly, and unfortunately the browser you are using does not allow JavaScript to run."
i don't find anything unfortunate about the programming of RTM :-)
