What does the "dot grid" to the left of the checkbox do?

It looks like something I can grab to rearrange my tasks, but that doesn't seem to work. What does it do?

You might be referring to the tasks' priority column. Change a task's priority to 1 and see if that "grid" turns orange.

Hi russ.goerend,
As risk mentioned, the area to the far left of each task indicates the priority.
If you're seeing a grid or handle that seems to indicate you can grab the task to move it, is it possible you're using a third party extension that adds this to the interface? If so, you may need to consult the add-on's documentation to see what this is for.
Hope that helps!
