Importing tasks -- can't use Smart List?

alasnik says:
Hi there,

I have a smartlist named "Today" for tasks due:today (simple enough :). I just set it to be the default list, and confirmed in settings that it's the default list.

Then I sent an email to my RTM import address with
test1
test2
test3

and all tasks ended up in my Inbox rather than my newly appointed default list.

Is that because Smart Lists aren't supported as a default list? And if that's the case, do I just need to create a NON smart list called TodayHolding, then a smart list that adds tasks from that dumb list? ;-)

Or have I uncovered a bug?

Thanks!

Regards,
Adam

Some years ago, I had a smart list as my default list. This created some really strange problems, with ghost tasks that could not be deleted or completed. Finally, RTM helped me out by deleting these tasks.

Therefore, I don't recommend this.

Hi Adam,
Smart Lists can be thought of as saved searches; they don't actually contain any tasks themselves. You're able to set a Smart List as the default list and it will, for example, be the first list displayed when you login to the web app.

However, when adding tasks via email or Twitter, if your default list is a Smart List, the tasks will go to your Inbox.

This page has some additional info on how the default list operates.

Hope that helps!

Got it! Given that your Settings page allows us to set Smart Lists as default, could you please file that as a bug and/or an associated feature request or let me know how I could do that? Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback on this.

I'll make sure the development team gets that for review.
