deleting task and reopetition? and a small idea

Is there any defined behaviour for deleting a task that has repetition? sometimes repetition would disappear, sometimes it would stay.
I was not able to understand what influences it or notice any pattern; anyway, a fix could be asking a user if he wants to delete one instance or series as a who0le.
Also, there'd be nice if we could "incomplete a task" that behaves almost like "completing' a task, for example if I have a repeating task that says I should write N lines of code a day or say do the laundry every week, I could mark it "not to be completed"/"cacnelled" for today instead of deleting it, so that i could see how are series going.
And so that they'd not disappear :P

I agree with the "it would be nice" in the last paragraph of rraven's post. I regularly do not complete tasks which are set to recur, but I am forced to "lie" and say I completed them in order to get them to disappear from the day I failed to complete them.
From my experimentation, it seems to me that deleting a task always changes the repetition on other instances of that task to "never". However, you have to refresh the screen somehow (e.g., switch to a different list, then back to the list containing the task you are observing) to see this effect. If you just look at the task without refreshing it, it will appear that the repetition interval has not changed.
As I commented in another post, this is very confusing for a beginner, and would be a welcome addition to the help file.

Sorry for the confusion around this -- deleting a repeating task will remove the repeating option, so that the deleted task won't continue to repeat in the future.
Currently, there isn't an option to only delete one task and keep the series repeating (but it's something we can look at adding, as rrraven suggested). It's definitely an area that we can improve on (or at the very least, have more info in the help section). Thanks for the feedback on this!
