Remove common tags from multiple tasks (How to)

peter.jewell says:
Scenario: I have a set of tasks with multiple tags. One tag is common to all the tasks. I wish to modify a subset of the tasks to change or remove just the common tag, leaving the other tags in place.
(It looks like RTM cannot detect that tasks share the same tags.)

An example of this might be a tag used to populate a list. I wish to rename and refocus that list, meaning that some tasks no longer belong. At present, to remove multiple tasks from the list I have to open each individually and remove/replace the tag: this is OK for 5 or 6, but a problem for 10, 20 or more.
Is there a quicker way of doing this?

Do you mean like this:

That is a workaround since the feature you're looking for doesn't exist.
But the workaround described is good! :)

Hi peter.jewell,
Unfortunately it's not currently possible to remove a single tag from multiple tasks, unless all the tasks you've selected have the same set of tags. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

In the meantime, the link that liffer posted (thanks liffer!) may be helpful for removing these.

In addition, you may want to vote for this idea in our Ideas forum which suggests that common tags among the selected tasks be displayed.

Thanks!

I think that would do the trick nicely.
Haven't tried it, but can see how it would work.
Can understand why some of the posters could not understand the mechanism, so it's definitely a good idea to be implemented properly.

Thanks for your help
