outlook calendar items as tasks question

joevallender says:
Sorry, this isn't strictly RTM, but the tips and tricks section looked to be for people offering solutions - not asking a question :o)

I use RTM on an iPhone for largely personal stuff. I have the standard iPhone calendar on the same phone active sync'd to my company's Exchange server.

This is pretty good - but I don't have a very busy calendar and with the way I use it, I would like the few things I do have in it to appear in RTM so I can see what I have do to on, say, Wednesday afternoon at work as well as the evening after.

Now, I could just put everything in outlook all the time. But I prefer the RTM interface and would ideally like my personal stuff kept separate.

I just had a look at MilkSync but notice that it quite rightly syncs tasks. I would use the one way sync.

So after the ramble, my question is this:

Is there any way I can get items from Outlook's calendar into RTM?

It is possible I could switch to using tasks instead, but I often require the resource booking feature (among others) of Outlook.

I'm thinking it's a question geared towards Outlook itself really, can you auto create tasks along with calendar entries?

Sorry, this is probably pretty edge case. But if anyone can help, even if it involved something quite creative, chaining through Gmail or something - then I would really appreciate it.

Hi joevallender,
In Outlook, you are able to drag an event from your calendar to the Tasks folder which will create a new task based on the event. But this process is not automatic and the task will not be updated if the event is updated, so it may not work for your situation.

As you mentioned, you are able to sync Remember the Milk with Outlook using our MilkSync for Outlook service. However, this only syncs task items and will not pick up events on your calendar. Sorry for any inconvenience.

That's cool. Thanks for coming back.

I knew it wasn't a core feature when I purchased the license - I just noticed some creative tips and tricks on the other forum. Good idea about dragging the items though, it gives me control and I only want key work events to pop up in RTM.

Thanks
