Make next task +x #days

oliver.morris says:
is there a way to set up a recurring series of tasks that take place over & over where i pick the start date then the remaining jobs all fall where they should based on the series. If RTM won't do it, do you know of any other free cloud bask task mngrs that do?

Hi oliver.morris,
You are able to create a repeating task which will create a new occurrence at regular intervals. For example, try entering the following in the "Add a new task" field:

New Task ^today *every 3 days

In this case, the "Repeat" property of the task is set to "every 3 days". The first occurrence in the series will be due today, and future occurrences will be due every 3 days.

You can find out more about the available repeat intervals here.

Hope that helps!

thanks for the reply. however what i'm looking for is; step 1 of a job starts on this date then step 2 - 10 all automatically fall onto the calendar in pre-determined intervals as the series of tasks never change.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

It's not currently possible to create a series of tasks with due dates that are based on the due dates of other tasks. Sorry for any inconvenience.

If you haven't already, you may want to vote and share your thoughts about dependent tasks. If this sounds like it would be helpful for your situation, let us know how you'd like to see this implemented.

Thanks!

@Oliver

If you have a template in excel for a series of tasks, you can build the dependencies there, concatenate the cells, save it as a text file, and upload up to fifty tasks at a time using RTM's bulk upload email address. This is covered in detail some place in these message boards. It's roundabout, but it can be done.
