Why are certain task fields hidden?

nwsedlak says:
Why do we have to setup a smart list and use "addedBefore:tomorrow" to see the added date of a task!? I've been using RTM for months not knowing the very useful Added date was even available! What other secret fields am I missing out on? Why aren't these displayed in the task details by default?

Thanks for your feedback on this.

It may be helpful to know that if you search using one of the "added" operators, the "Added" date will be displayed in the task details box. You don't need to create a Smart List from this search to see it.

The "Completed" date is another property that is only displayed sometimes (when viewing the list of completed items).

Hope that helps!

Thank you for the reply, but it doesn't fully address the issue. The issue is there are fields which are not displayed when viewing a task in a "real" list unless you search or create a smart list. Having to add "addedBefore:tomorrow" on every smart list I create is not efficient, user friendly or even officially documented other than in forums and 3rd party sites. I don't understand why this is the case.

I can understand why displaying the completed date/time is pointless for an uncompleted task, but I cannot understand why the added date/time is hidden. Every task has to have a valid added date/time for its entire existence until its deleted. Is the added date hidden for a reason? If there isn't a reason, then please display it!

Thanks

In addition to the create date (added) it would be helpful to be able to access the modified date, if that is stored.

Thank you both again for your feedback on this! It's good to know that it would be helpful to have this date displayed at all times. I'll make sure the development team gets this for review.

If you haven't already, you may also want to vote for this in our Ideas forum here.

Thanks!
