list-based priorities

caitlyn.paget says:
Is there a way to have RTM automatically set a task's priority based on the list that it's in?

For example, I'd like all the tasks in my "Responsibility" list to have priority level #1.

Thoughts?

Hi caitlyn.paget,
It's not currently possible to do this in a list, but if you create a Smart List, e.g. one that searches for list:Responsibility priority:1, any tasks added to it will automatically be placed in the Responsibility list and given priority 1. More details about how this works or on our site.

Hope this helps!

thanks! that has helped a lot. I've also gotten better at using the "Smart Add" features, so I can assign the priorities as I create the task.

Now that I've played around with these methods a fair bit, I have a small suggestion... It would be great if we could create our own "rules" that the tasks follow.

So instead of assigning a priority to a list, it would be great if I could create a "rule" that says all tasks in this list have this priority. This would be very flexible, because you could say something like "all tasks with this tag AND this tag should be this priority and should be on this list".

I know that much of that can be done with smart lists, and they are a great tool. But please tuck my idea away for future consideration in your development cycles. Maybe it fits with the RTM vision...
