All events in iCalendar show as 1 hr long

Is this my mistake, or just the way it goes?
I managed to have the icalendar (events) shown into Google Calendar or Evolution. But alas! Every event is shown as 1 hour long (in both calendars). As much as I put time estimates, I get the same (lame) 1 hour per event.
Thus, my events are written in the following format:
Due: 20 Sep 10 at 08:45
Time estimate: 30m
The event still shows as an hour long event, conflicting with the next that is due at 9:15
Is there a solution to this?
