Combining G Mail Calendar with RTM
kirsten.miller says:
First off, I am very new to the GTD scene... to me I think it might work well if I could see the tasks I have due in a day on the same "page" as my calendar... is this possible?? I use the calendar on G Mail which is synched to my Droid2.
I went back 15 weeks in posts, and I didn't seem to run across anything that looked like the questions I have.
I am also still in the trial...
Is this possible?? am I missing something??
TY! :)

I did find that, but it doesn't "seem" to be getting to my phone.
I see everything combined online, but it still looks separate to me on my phone.

Hi skorpios.group,
Welcome to RTM (and to GTD). :)
The services for Google Calendar may be useful to you, but will not be from your Droid. (They're designed for Google Calendar on a desktop computer.)
You would probably find more use in iCalendar for Google Calendar, which would show your tasks as events on your calendar (in both places).
Keep in mind that you can hide the calendars separately on your computer or phone, e.g. if you wanted to view the daily gadget on your computer but not your phone.
Hope this helps!

So you want to see the tasks on the calendar on your phone on the day that they are due?
Simple:
1.] Go to RTM General Settings and make sure that you have private addresses turned on.
2.] Go to your "All Tasks" (or any other list) and on the left hand side, right-click the link for "iCalendar (Events)" and copy the link.
3.] Go to your Google Calendar account (the same account which is the main account on your android phone, it is the one that syncs calendars).
4.] On the bottom left, underneath Other Calendars, click Add, and click Add by URL.
5.] Enter the link you copied from step 2.
6.] All the tasks, in the list you selected, with due dates will now show up as a calendar in Google Calendar. All the tasks for a certain date will show up in the calendar (month, day, or week view) as all-day events.
7.] These events will be synced to your android phone in the calendar app. Go to the Calendar Sync settings and you will see the same calendars as you see in the Google Calendar website. The calendar you just added will show up as soon as you sync. Make sure you set this calendar to displayable.
The way this works is:
RTM ---> Google Calendar ----> Android Phone
How often does Google Calendar check for updates to the tasks calendar you have added? I don't know. It checks enough times for it to be useful for me.
